The Mustang is the wild horse of the North American west left by the Spanish in the late 1600's. The Native Americans began using the horse as their main mode of transportation and would often steal the horses from the Spaniards. At one point there were around 2 million wild horses. The breed is very hardy and clever which helps them adapt well to their environment.
